Online Driver Education Theory Course

DriveErie, LLC offers a 100% online driver education theory course. ​ This Pennsylvania Department of Education approved online driver education theory course is divided into 12 units covering different important driving topics. The unit topics will provide students the skills necessary to become conscientious drivers.

Studying online gives you the freedom you need to be able to study when it's best for you. You can work through each short, easy-to-read chapter at your own pace and login or out of the program at anytime. You can work as quickly or slowly through those units as you wish. This online program accommodates your learning style, and gives you a chance to learn as efficiently as possible. Study how and when it's ideal for you.

Progress Monitoring

  1. Canvas is a learning management system that manages education courses. Each course has an “administrator” who controls all information that is part of that course.   The only person that will be given permission to monitor a particular course is the Pennsylvania certified driver education teacher currently teaching that class.

  2. Canvas has “completion rules” which are requirements placed on course folders and/or course material. In order to progress through the curriculum, the completion requirements must be done in a particular order. As you finish completion rules, the next part of the course will become available. Example completion requirements are: “view”, “submit”, and “score at least”.

To complete this online driver education course you must earn a grade of 77% or higher. Once you have successfully completed the course, you will receive a certificate of completion. Graded items include:

 

  • video reviews

    • submit answers to questions from videos

  • worksheets

    • arrange procedural tasks in the correct order

  • words to know match-up

  • unit tests

    • 10 multiple choice questions

    • you may miss two or less to earn a passing score

  • final exam

    • 50 multiple choice questions

    • accounts for 40% of the course grade
