Driver Education

All Pennsylvania teens below the age of 18 are required to complete 65 hours of supervised experience behind-the-wheel when they are in possession of a Learner's Permit prior to taking their driver's test.

Teens below the age of 18 can apply for a Pennsylvania senior driver's license if they have successfully completed a 30 hour approved driver education course and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driver training. In addition, they must remain accident-free and conviction-free for at least one year from the date they received their license.

Teens who have not successfully completed both courses must wait until age 18 in order for their junior driver's license to become a senior driver's license without any operational restrictions.
